ARTIST STATEMENT
My purpose in creation has always been to build worlds that others can get lost in. I work in traditional mediums like acrylic, colored pencils, graphite, and markers. At times, I also tend to incorporate drawing within the digital space. Weaving stories together and bringing them to life is seen throughout my art. The ability to explore different expressions of the same characters through alternate universes is where I thrive. Exploring multiple narratives to convey a deeper understanding of a realistic topic is important to me. To be able to play around with relationship dynamics and character motivations brings life into the work. I have experimented with various genres including horror, fantasy, sci-fi, and comedy.
Music also plays a role in the development of the storyline. The tone of a story can be set based on rock, hip-hop/rap, pop or country. I often tend to focus on this one set of characters, “Joyous!”, and my goal has always been to be present within these figures. I want my audience to connect with the prototype characters.
